10 Reasons to Spay or Neuter Your Pet

Picture

Reduce risk of cancer

Especially in female animals who are spayed before their first heat cycle, there is a greatly reduced risk of different kinds of cancer, including breast cancer.

Less likely to run away.

Fertile animals, especially males, are much more prone to roaming, while a spayed/neutered animal is more content to stay home and enjoy the company of its family.

Reduced risk of biting

Surgical sterilization reduces all forms or aggressive behavior in both male and female animals and greatly reduces the chance that your pet will bite you or someone else.

Less fighting with other animals

Along with the reduced risk of biting, a sterilized animal is much more likely to live peacefully with other animals.

Increased life expectancy

A number of studies have shown that sterilized animals live longer than fertile animals, and that they have fewer medical problems of all kinds.

Less expensive to maintain

In addition to requiring less veterinary care, animals that have been spayed or neutered eat less than fertile ones. Over the course of their lives, the reduced veterinary and food costs will more than cover the costs of the surgery.

Reduced chances of marking or spraying

Spayed or neutered animals are much less likely to spray or mark inside your home than a fertile pet.

Less mounting behavior

Male and female pigs that are spayed/neutered are not as likely to mount the legs of your house guests.

Less risk of damage in your home

During their regular cycle, usually every 21 days, fertile females will rub there back sides on furniture, walls anything available to them. Having them spayed eliminates this concern.

Less Likely to be given up

According to a study conducted by the National Council on Pet Population, a fertile animal is much more likely to be abandoned, surrendered to a shelter or given away, probably because a sterilized pet is a happier and better adjusted animal.

Spay/Neuter Contract

The following agreement is between ______________ (breeder), hereafter referred to as "Seller", and ______________, hereafter referred to as "Purchaser".

In consideration of a purchase price of ______________________ the Seller transfers all rights in fee simple determinable, privileges and responsibilities associated with the ownership of the female/male piglet/pig to Purchaser as of the date and time specified below with the following conditions subsequent:

COLOR: ____________________________ SEX: ______________ DOB: ______________

MARKINGS: ________________________________________________________

SIRE: ____________________________  DAM: ____________________________

Purchaser agrees to neuter/spay the piglet/pig before it reaches sexual maturity or is large enough in weight to have the procedure done. Purchaser agrees to supply Seller with a veterinarian's letter by certified mail as proof of a neuter/spay. If Purchaser fails to neuter/spay this piglet/pig and provide proof to the Seller by one year of age, rights and ownership of the pig will automatically terminate and revert back to Seller who may immediately assume possession of the pig. Seller's reasonable attorney's fees for recovery of the pig will be paid by the Purchaser.

It is understood by all parties to this agreement that this piglet/pig of the above specified description is being purchased as a pet only. Purchaser acknowledges and agrees that this piglet/pig will be a pet only and is not to be used for breeding. In the event that the Purchaser does not have the piglet/pig properly neutered/spayed, any offspring issuing from this pet only piglet/pig are property of the Seller and the entire litter must be immediately returned to the Seller with the originally purchased piglet/pig. Seller's attorney's fees for the recovery of the piglets/pigs will be paid by the Purchaser.

It is understood in this agreement by all parties that If the Purchaser does not have the piglet/pig properly neutered/spayed, in the event that the purchaser raises & sells offspring from this pet only piglet/pig the Seller is due the fees the Purchaser has collected on  the illegal breeding and sells of the offspring. Seller's reasonable attorney's fees for recovery of the Dollar amount the Purchaser profited off of the breeding/offspring will be paid by the Purchaser.

When to spay/neuter: Generally this should be done when the piglet has reached at least 5 to 9 months for a female and 3 to 4 months for a male. The older the piglet/pig, the more able it will be to with stand the anesthesia.  But there is no need to wait for a female to have her first heat cycle before she is spayed. In fact, you can avoid the problems associated with estrus by spaying her before it occurs if she is of enough wait to handle anesthesia. There is also no need to wait for the male to become sexually mature.

Why spay/neuter: Fixing your pig prevents pregnancy and the birth of unwanted piglets. It avoids the need to restrain the pig during estrus. It keeps both sexes from roaming away from your house in search of a mate. It reduces the tendency of male pigs to urinate in the house, marking his territory. Licensing fees are also cheaper. Additionally, it avoids reproductive-related problems such as tumors, pyometra, false pregnancy, prostate infections, and old-age cancers.

Why should this pig be spayed/neutered? Any pig sold as a pet should not be bred. This is simply for the improvement and maintenance of the breeding program. Breeders have striving for years to select and perfect the Teacup, Micro, Nano, Pixie, Petite Pigs. They are bred not only for their  size, health, energy levels, but their responsiveness and intelligence (which is why they are becoming to popular). Micro Teacup Nano Pigs have not like standards with respect to color, height, etc. They are selected purely for their size intelligence conformations & health.  Pigs are eligible for a breeding program only if they are able to reproduce either their own quality or better quality in each successive generation. Breeding is not to be done casually nor is it a money-making venture. It is not a hobby and is very time consuming and energy demanding. By demanding that this pet only piglet/pig be neutered/spayed, it avoids mass-production of average quality Piglets/pigs, controls the already overblown pet pig population, and improves the overall fitness of the Teacup Micro Nano Petite Pig lines.

This does not mean that this piglet is an inferior pig. This piglet/pig is as capable as any of its litter mates of becoming a lovable, well-trained, and perfectly happy pig. This piglet has been tested for its health and evaluated for buyer placement into a pet only home.  Given the proper amount of love and attention, nothing should prevent this piglet from becoming an excellent companion and family member.

We the undersigned have read, understood and agree with the terms of this contract in its entirety.
